Corporate Overview
COMPANY PROFILE
NanoDel is a spin-off company from the Medical School of the University of Magdeburg, known for its excellent neuroscience research. NanoDel was founded in November 2003 and employs 9 people.
Development pipeline: NanoDel is using its nanoparticle (NP) based technology to deliver compounds to the brain that are suitable for the treatment of brain tumors and other acute and chronic CNS related disorders, such as brain infections, migraine, pain, epilepsy, Alzheimer's and others. The following NP packed compounds are under pre-clinical development or in feasibility studies:
- Doxorubicin-nanoparticles against glioblastoma is in pre-clinical development.
- Paclitaxel-NP against glioblastoma is in preparation for pre-clinical development.
- Sulpirid for depression/schizophrenia is under evaluation concerning its "loadability" into NPs (feasibility study).
- Additional feasibility studies with CNS development compounds from other pharma companies are ongoing as a fee for service approach.
Business model: NanoDels business model is to apply its nanotechnology to therapeutically interesting compounds which are either
- already on the market for other indications but without CNS approval due to missing blood brain barrier (BBB) crossing and/or unfavourable ADME (adsorption, distribution, metabolism, elimination) parameters, or
- were not developed for CNS indications due to such ADME related limitations.
NanoDel will develop such nanoparticle loaded compounds up to clinical proof of concept. From phase IIb onwards a co-development pharma partner is required.
